This post on being a Super Hero in your use of Twitter is by Shawna Coronado from The Casual Gardener (yes, that’s her in the pic!) – (follow her at @ShawnaCoronado).

You can change the world for the better – you CAN make a difference! This is the message I have for all the Twitter community.

How can you do it? You are one person, and the Twitter Universe is immense, right? Yes, but you have Twitter Super Powers.

Truth be told, Twitter is a world of influence with the opportunity to meet hundreds and thousands of people. Although we all are on Twitter to make friends we are also on to influence others and encourage them to acknowledge our platform. Whether it is selling a retail product, service, or an idea – we are hoping that the Twitter world is listening.

And guess what? The Twitter Universe IS listening and more importantly, is out to help each other.

Proof of this is seen in the ripples of response which happen after a disaster, for example the recent plane crash in the Hudson River. So many people are on Twitter informing the world of the details and supporting each other through the emotional aspect of the disaster that we, as Tweeters, are influencing the news media and the senior corporate executives of the world.

Twitter has become more than a ripple; it has become a tidal wave of influence. With this type of influence at every Tweeters finger tips – a superpower many people do not have access to – isn’t it time you started thinking of how you can use your Twitter Super Powers for good?

Crime, terrorists, war, hate – there are so many evil forces in the world looking to bring the human spirit down. Why not promote positive thinking? Build positive community, feed the poor, rescue landfills, help the underprivileged, teach people to do good in the world: all these causes can be influenced by your personal Super Powers. You can make a difference for so many people by being a part of Twitter.

Consider the above statement: “You can make a difference for so many people.” Why are you still one of the bland thousands who are simply “selling your product” with boring retail sales tweets? Not only are they boring, the rest of the Twitter Universe benefits very little from having them funnel through our feed. We all need help and need to give help to be a part of the Twitter experience.

If you take the time to communicate with other people, you WILL be selling your platform and your products. Better yet, when you take the time to communicate and encourage messages which teach the concepts of doing the right thing and making a difference, you will be doing more good with your Twitter Super Powers than you could ever imagine.

Being good to one another is the right thing to do – so be the superhero and save the day. Use your Twitter Super Powers for good!
